A.G. Russell Springdale, ARK.  Fixed Blade Hunter ~ Vintage 1980`s - RARE!

The A.G. Russell Springdale, AR fixed blade Hunter from the 1980s is a rare collectible featuring the patented Morseth laminated steel blade and a durable micarta handle. These knives represent a significant era when A.G. Russell operated his shop in Springdale, Arkansas, after acquiring the Morseth brand in 1971.

Design and Construction
This specific 9-inch model follows the classic Morseth design language, known for its high-performance blade and ergonomic handle.
  • Blade Material: Features Morseth’s signature laminated steel, often consisting of a high-carbon core (like A-2) for edge retention, sandwiched between layers of softer steel for toughness.
  • Blade Style:  Hunter profile, designed by Gordon Morseth and continued by A.G. Russell.
  • Handle: Constructed with Micarta, a resin-based material highly valued by collectors for being nearly indestructible and providing a secure grip even when wet.
  • Hilt and Spacers: features a nickel silver double guard and a series of colored spacers (often red, black, and white) between the guard and the micarta handle.

Markings and Origin
  • Tang Stamp: The blade is stamped "A.G. Russell Springdale, Ark." .
  • Manufacturing: During the 1980s, these were "Shopmade" in Springdale, Arkansas. Some Morseth-branded knives from this era were also produced in collaboration with renowned makers like Bob Dozier.
  • Era Identification: Knives marked "Springdale, Ark." are highly sought after as they pre-date the company's move to its current headquarters in Rogers, Arkansas
