US M7 Bayonet Fighting Knife ~  Imperial
 
Manufactured by the Imperial Knife Co., a prolific government supplier, this bayonet served as standard issue for the U.S. Armed Forces from the Vietnam War period into the 1980s. It was designed for use with the M16 rifle and its variants (M4, AR-15). 
  • Blade: 1095 carbon steel blade with a spear point, a full-length sharpened edge, and approximately 3 inches sharpened on the opposite side. It has a dark grey/black parkerized finish for corrosion resistance.
  • Dimensions: The blade length is approximately 6.75 inches (17.1 cm), with an overall length of around 11.75 inches (29.8 cm).
  • Grips: Feature checkered black molded plastic (phenolic) grips designed for a non-slip hold.
  • Fittings: Includes a steel crossguard with a muzzle ring (approximately 22 mm inner diameter) for attachment to the rifle's flash hider, and a pommel with a dual-lever locking mechanism (press catch) for securing it to the bayonet lug.
  • Markings: The manufacturer name "IMPERIAL" and "US M7" are typically stamped under the crossguard. 
 
USM8A1 Scabbard (PWH) 
 
The M8A1 scabbard was designed to carry the M3 fighting knife and the M4, M5, M6, and M7 bayonets. 
  • Construction: Made with an olive drab fiberglass (or thermoplastic impregnated duck canvas) body, a steel throat, and a reinforced webbing belt hanger.
  • Features: Includes a universal belt hook (M1910 hook) for attachment to load-carrying equipment, a canvas frog with a securing snap around the grip, and a leather or nylon thong at the tip to tie the scabbard to the wearer's leg.
  • PWH Mark: The "PWH" stamped on the metal throat stands for the Pennsylvania Working Home for the Blind. This organization produced M8A1 scabbards for the U.S. government from approximately 1965 to 1969. After this period, the marking changed to "TWB" (The Working Blind).
  • Functionality: Designed to protect the blade and provide a secure, versatile carrying solution for various military bayonets and knives
