US M7 Bayonet (BOC manufacturer) Vietnam-era ~ Vintage

The US M7 Bayonet (BOC manufacturer) is a 11.5-inch Vietnam-era fighting knife for the M16 rifle, featuring a 6.5-inch parkerized steel blade, black checkered grip, and muzzle ring. It is paired with the M8A1 scabbard (manufactured by VIZ), which includes a green fiberglass body, steel throat, and M1910 wire hanger.
  • Bayonet Use: The US M7 Bayonet was the standard bayonet for the M16 rifle and M4 carbine. It was designed as a fighting knife as well as a bayonet.
  • Scabbard Use: The US M8A1 Scabbard is designed to facilitate carrying the M3 trench knife and M4, M5, M6, and M7 bayonet knives. It is constructed from olive drab webbing and a plastic body with a metal throat and an integral webbing belt loop.
  • Era: The combination of a BOC-marked bayonet and a VIZ-marked scabbard is highly consistent with original U.S. Vietnam War era military issue gear
  • Bayonet Manufacturer: BOC (Bauer Ordnance Company).
  • Scabbard Manufacturer: VIZ Manufacturing (Philadelphia, Pa.).
  • Era: Vietnam War (introduced 1964).
  • Blade Material: Parkerized steel.
  • Handle: Black, molded plastic/polymer checkered grips.
  • Scabbard Features: Olive drab web hanger, metal-reinforced tip, and securing strap.
These items are highly collectible, with the BOC mark signifying early, authentic, US-made contract production.

Manufacturer Identification
  • BOC: These initials stand for the Bauer Ordnance Company, which was the first contractor to produce the M7 bayonet, starting in 1964. Bayonets from BOC are considered safe for being Vietnam vintage.
  • VIZ: This marking identifies the Viz Manufacturing Co. as the producer of the M8A1 scabbard. Viz Manufacturing Co. had contracts for M8A1 scabbards, including one in 1969, and specimens dated from 1963 have been found.

  • Condition is near mint
