Each Pro-Tech knife is a blend of the finest materials available and a commitment to craftsmanship. Pro-Tech knives are built with the most current high tech manufacturing processes that include; CNC Machining, Wire EDM, Laser Cutting, etc. The high tech components are assembled and hand fit by dedicated and caring craftsmen in their Artesia, California facility. They craft small batches of their knives so that they can take the time to individually hand fit and finish each knife to a level rarely seen in a factory knife. Pro-Tech and Mike "Whiskers" Allen have been friends for over 20 years. Back before the Pro-Tech days when Dave used to buy and sell a lot of custom knives, many a Whiskers custom autos did he sell. It's great that all these many years later they are able to offer this fantastic Pro-Tech/Whiskers collaboration knife! Upon first glance, there is nothing about the BR-1 to make you suspect it's an auto (no button of course). In our experience, 9 out of 10 people that you hand it to will NOT be able to open it until you show them where the trick spot is. The bolster slides upward and this very deliberate movement is what fires the blade open and also unlocks it from the open position.
