Morseth Clip Point Hunter ~ 7-pin Wood Handle ~ Vintage

Morseth clip point hunter with a 7-pin wood handle is a rare, collectible hunting knife often featuring laminated steel blades and specialized handle construction developed by Harry Morseth. These knives are highly regarded for their historical significance in the custom knife world, particularly those produced before the brand's acquisition by A.G. Russell in 1971.

Blade and Construction
The hallmark of a vintage Morseth is its laminated blade, which typically consists of a high-carbon steel core for edge retention (hardened to roughly 62 HRC) sandwiched between layers of softer, more flexible steel.
  • Blade Shape: The clip point design features a concave "clipped" section on the spine, providing an acute tip for precision work like skinning.
  • Materials: Early blades were often sourced from Brusletto in Norway.
  • Markings:  "MORSETH" stamp on the blade
  • Made in the 1970`s -80`s or older

Handle and PIN Configuration
The 7-pin handle is a distinct variant, as many Morseth knives utilize a hidden tang secured by a single pommel nut or a few pins.
  • Pins: In vintage custom knives, a 7-pin pattern often indicates a full-tang or slab-side construction where seven individual pins (often brass or nickel silver) secure the wood scales to the steel frame.
  • Wood Type: Common high-end woods found on vintage Morseth hunters include African Blackwood, Ironwood, or Jacaranda.

  • Does not appear to have been used, carried or sharpened
  • Leather sheath
  • Condition is  near mint, minor patina consistent with age , see all photos
