Vintage Gerber ~ Rare

This Gerber LMF Bowie has a silver coated stainless steel clip point blade with hidden tang. Blade width is 3/16", depth is 1-1/4". Handle is black foam with silver coated aluminum double guard and butt cap. Comes with black nylon sheath with button closure and belt loop. Blade Steel: Silver Coated Stainless Steel

LMF meant "Light/Lightweight Multi-Function." The blade, guard and butt have a satin-like finish which reduces glare. The handle is a neoprene rubber with an almost sponge-like gripping surface that is very secure regardless of conditions. Measures 10-3/4" long overall, 5-7/8" from tip to front of the guard. The blade is stamped on one side "GERBER/U.S.A." and on the other side "LMF" over the serial number, 011041. I believe the production date on this one was the late 1980's, but I am not sure. The knife does not have a box, papers, etc.

• Does not appear to be used or sharpened, although there are a few very light scratches towards tip on one side and the guard and buttcap have some blemish due to being stored in the sheath for an extended time.

NKCA Grading system

MINT: A factory fresh knife, absolutely original as it came from the manufacturer, not carried or sharpened, a perfect knife.

NEAR MINT: A new knife that has seen sometimes, show some slight carry or shop wear, blades snap perfectly, handles show no cracks.

EXCELLENT: Shows no more than 10% blade wear, handles are sound, no cracks, blades snap good.

VERY GOOD: About 25% blade wear, slight cracks in handles, may have one lazy blade, stamping clearly visible to the naked eye, no blades changed or repaired.

FAIR: 50% blade wear, blades lazy, cracks and chips in handles, handles replaced with same type, blades repaired, stampings faint but readable with a glass.

POOR: Blades very worn, handles bad or missing, blades have been replaced with the same type, reading of the stamp is almost impossible, even with a glass, good mostly only for parts.
