Cattaraugus 225Q Quartermaster knife ~ Vintage 1940`s
Cattaraugus 225Q  is a stout, 6-inch blade military utility and fighting knife that was issued to U.S. troops during World War II. Also known as the "Quartermaster knife," it was designed for rugged field use and has become a collectible item for military history enthusiasts.

  • Blade: The blade is approximately 6 inches long and around 3/16-inch thick, made of high carbon steel, usually 1095. It has a Bowie-inspired pattern with a fuller (or "blood groove") on both sides.
  • Handle: The grip is constructed of stacked leather washers and has a checkered steel pommel. The pommel design was optimized for mass production and durability, with a method of assembly that involved multiple steel discs and pins to secure the handle.
  • Overall Length: The overall length of the knife is typically around 10.5 to 10 5/8 inches.
  • Usage: It was designed as an all-purpose utility knife for the Quartermaster Corps but also saw use as a fighting knife by infantry and was even rumored to be a favorite among some U.S. special forces.

This is a vintage Cattaraugus Cutlery WWII 225Q knife with stacked leather handle. Cattaraugus Cutlery was located in Little Valley New York, USA and produced cutlery from 1886 until 1963. This is a solid knife with no issues. It has some patina consistent with age and the handle is in exceptional condition.  Condition is excellent considering age and possible wartime use.
