3 Dots: According to Case's dating system, the "Case XX USA" stamp with three dots indicates the knife was produced in 1997. Case used a 10-dot system for each decade, removing one dot for every year that passed; by 1997, only three dots remained.
Pattern Number 51549L: The first digit (5) indicates the handle is made of Genuine Stag. The second digit (1) denotes it has one blade. The remaining digits (549) refer to the specific CopperLock factory pattern. The L indicates it is a locking blade.

Blade: A 3.25-inch mirror-polished Clip Point master blade made of Tru-Sharp surgical stainless steel.
