Case XX  Stag CopperLock  ~ Vintage 1997

Case XX 51549L Stag CopperLock with 3 dots(often referred to as having "floating dots" because of their placement below the stamp) was made in 1997. It is a full-sized folding lockback knife that combines the features of a traditional Copperhead and a Trapper.

  • 3 Dots: According to Case's dating system, the "Case XX USA" stamp with three dots indicates the knife was produced in 1997. Case used a 10-dot system for each decade, removing one dot for every year that passed; by 1997, only three dots remained.
  • Pattern Number 51549L: The first digit (5) indicates the handle is made of Genuine Stag. The second digit (1) denotes it has one blade. The remaining digits (549) refer to the specific CopperLock factory pattern. The L indicates it is a locking blade.
  • Blade: A 3.25-inch mirror-polished Clip Point master blade made of Tru-Sharp surgical stainless steel.
  • Handle: Genuine Sambar or Chital deer stag scales, often hand-finished and flame-treated for a rough bark texture.
  • Construction: Features brass liners and pins with nickel silver bolsters.
  • Locking Mechanism: A mid-lock (or lockback) design for secure operation.
  • Dimensions: Measures approximately 4.25 inches when closed and has an overall open length of roughly 7.37 to 7.5 inches.
  • Weight: Approximately 2.8 to 3.14 ounces.
