The 1979 Case XX Shark Tooth (P197 L SSP) is a highly collectible, vintage sportsmans lockback folding knife. The 1 Dot tang stamp explicitly dates this specific model's manufacture to 1979.

  • Blade: Crafted from Tru-Sharp surgical stainless steel with a classic clip-point shape. The blade features a distinctive factory etch reading "SHARK TOOTH" accompanied by a detailed image of a shark. It utilizes a traditional deep nail pull for manual opening. 
  • Handle: Structured with smooth, laminated Pakkawood scales (often referred to simply as hardwood or wood handles). 
  • Frame & Hardware: Built with thick brass bolsters, liners, and pins. The front left bolster is prominently stamped or deep-etched with an oval "Open C" Case logo. 
  • Locking Mechanism: Equipped with a secure, heavy-duty lockback system released via a lever near the rear bolster. 
Originally, this model shipped in a two-piece factory box and was paired with a heavy-duty brown leather belt sheath stamped with the Case XX logo. It remains a prized piece for factory-manufactured vintage pocket knife collectors.
