Blade Configuration & Construction
- Master Blade: A Clip Point blade designed for detailed, heavy-duty cutting tasks. It is stamped with the pattern number on its reverse tang.
- Secondary Blades: Two smaller blades positioned on the opposite end, traditionally consisting of a Pen blade and either a Spey blade or secondary coping blade.
- Blade Material: Standard models from this era utilize Vanadium Extra Carbon Steel (CV), known for taking a razor-sharp edge, though susceptible to natural patina and tarnish over time.
- Split Back Design: This refers to the complex split-spring mechanism visible along the spine of the handle. The master blade rides on both backsprings simultaneously, while each smaller secondary blade relies on its own individual spring, separated by a tapered brass liner.
Handle Aesthetics & Accents
- Scales: Premium Jigged Bone, dyed in a deep chestnut brown with " Appaloosa Like " markings in the bone. The jigging provides a textured, slip-resistant grip and an authentic vintage aesthetic.
- Shield & Bolsters: Features a pinned nickel silver Case shield inlaid into the bone scale, flanked by polished nickel silver bolsters on a foundation of solid brass liners.
