The CAMILLUS 23" is a vintage "Cigar Jack" pattern pocket knife with two blades, produced in the United States by the original Camillus Cutlery Company between the late 1940s and mid-1950s.    Research indicates this date , although it could date some later. 
 
The vintage Camillus model 23 is a classic, traditional-style working knife. 
  • Design: It is a large, "Cigar Jack" pattern slipjoint pocket knife.
  • Dimensions: Closed, the knife measures approximately 4 and 1/8 inches long. When opened, it is about 7 and 3/8 inches long.
  • Blades: It features two blades: a master spear blade (approx. 3.25 inches with a 2.75-inch cutting length) and a smaller pen blade (approx. 2.375 inches with a cutting length just under 2 inches).
  • Materials: The blades are made of 1095 carbon steel, a tough and proven material for hard use. It features brass pins and nickel silver bolsters.
  • Handle Material: Handle scales were made of materials like plastic (often in yellow or cream colors).
  • Vintage Dating: The "short line" tang stamp (Camillus New York USA) on the blade dates production to the late 1940s to early 1950s.
