The Buck Strider SBMF(Strider Buck Military Folder), model 889, is a discontinued collaboration knife that combines Mick Strider's iconic tactical design with Buck Knives' mass-production capabilities. This a version of the high-end Strider SMF or SnG folders, it features a robust, overbuilt aesthetic suited for tactical and everyday carry (EDC) use.

Specifications
  • Blade Material: 420HC stainless steel, typically featuring a black oxide finish for corrosion resistance and low reflectivity. Some premium versions were produced in ATS-34 steel.
  • Handle Material: Black G-10 scales (or TACCOM glass-reinforced nylon on some variants) providing a high-traction, "quad-hold" grip.
  • Locking Mechanism: Stainless steel liner lock designed for secure, one-handed operation.
  • Blade Style: Extra-wide drop point with a hollow grind, measuring approximately 3.5 inches.
  • Deployment: Manual opening via an oval thumb hole or dual thumb studs, depending on the specific production run.

Design Features
  • Ergonomics: The handle includes deep finger grooves and aggressive jimping (notching) on the thumb ramp and handle spine to ensure a "locked-in" feel even when using gloves.
  • Carry System: Includes a stiff, heavy-duty stainless steel pocket clip configured for tip-up carry. Many versions feature a reversible clip for ambidextrous use.
  • Construction: Built with a flow-through design using standoffs, making the knife easier to clean in the field by blowing out debris.
