Handle and Aesthetics
The handle is designed for maximum ergonomics and comfort during sustained use:
- Material: The Black Canvas Micarta provides a durable, grippy surface that performs well even when wet.
- Accents: The red liners are aesthetic spacers placed between the micarta scales and the full-tang steel, providing a sharp visual contrast.
- Ergonomics: It features a "coke bottle" contour that allows for a secure four-finger grip and fine control for precision tasks.
Field Features and Sheath
Designed primarily for bushcraft and field dressing
- Blade Grind: Features a convex grind, which Bark River CEO Mike Stewart favors for its ability to bite deep into wood without hanging up while remaining easy to maintain by stropping.
- 90° Spine: The spine of the blade is ground to a sharp 90-degree angle, specifically for striking a fire starter (ferrocerium rod) to throw sparks.
- Sheath: It comes with a high-quality leather Highland sheath. Most configurations for this model include a built-in loop to hold a fire steel, facilitating a complete emergency fire-starting kit.
